Pingtung Airport was established on 28th, Nov, 1994. In the first stage, it was just a contemporary departure lounge reconfigured from a art exhibition hall borrowed from Pingtung Culture Centre, aiming at providing waiting rooms for travelers and working places for airline companies. On 14th, Feb, 1995, it was moved to current address, next to the gate of Southern Airport of Pingtung Air Base, to keep providing service. With expectation, it will be moved to Northern Airport as a permanent Airport in near future around 2005.

(1)RUNWAY/TAXIWAY︰

A civil airplane uses Southern Airport to take off and land. The runway is 2383 meters in length and 45 meters in width; the taxiway is 22.5 meters in width. The runway/taxiway can be provided for Boeing 727 or other inferior types of aircrafts to take off and land.

(2)APRON：

9120 square meters. It can accommodate three medium aircrafts, such as ATR72 or DH8, at the same time.

(3)STATION：

542 square meters. The whole station includes both interior and exterior departure lounges, security-checking counter, airline company counters and aviation police office. The exterior departure lounge is about 179 square meters and accommodates 88 seats; the interior departure lounge is about 172 square meters and accommodates 64 seats. The station is also equipped with a security-checking line and designed to take the entering number as 144 passengers per hour at peak time.

(4)PARKING LOT︰

The parking lot provides enough space for 150 cars and 300 motorcycles.
